Dave Goldberg

Dave was born and raised in the small town of Iron River,WI. His dad Dave and mother Evelyn owned and operated a small grocery store and meat market. He spent his early years stocking shelves and riding with his dad buying cattle, chicken and eggs from small farmers.

Unfortunately, his father died when Dave was 13 without life insurance. It meant starting work at an early age and has continued to today's date. He learned a strong work ethic from his parents and has tried to instill that in his family and employees.

Dave's claim to fame was being in the top ten of his high school graduating class (the truth is all 1O did). Following his father's advice, he enrolled in the business school at U of Minnesota Duluth, graduating cum laude while working full time jobs.

After graduating, Dave worked with a large corporation in some minor management positions. After 32 years, he moved to the small business environment where he got experience in credit, business management, accounting, marketing and sales. Using that experience, Dave opened his own businesses in 1973 marketing manufactured homes (mobile homes). Together with some very capable young partners the businesses thrived and provided capitol to purchase manufactured home/communities and commercial real estate properties.

Dave and longtime partner Bert Huntington joined with new partner Michael lves to purchase communities and commercial property in Duluth, MN in the 1980s. Dave's relationship with Mike lves resulted in the decision to build an Americlnn in Proctor, MN. Looking for a strong partner with banking background. Willard Ogren, Dave's partner in other business ventures, was asked to join in the lodging business.

From that small start in lodging the partnership built or purchased fifteen hotels in MN, WI, lA and MI.

Cheryl Goldberg, Dave's daughter became CFO of the hotels and other related entities and also became an equal owner in Hospitality Investors (now IGO Legacy Hotel Group). Dave's oldest son David owns a $100 million dollar revenue business in Chaska after participating with his father in other successful business ventures. Dave's youngest son Darrell has been active in manufactured homes, site built homes and the storage business in Duluth, MN. Dave's wife Lisa takes care of the home front and their busy travel and social schedule along with keeping close to 17 grandchildren.

Dave spends most of his time in Duluth, the Villages in Florida and his fishing outpost in Canada. He still enjoys flying his float plane into remote areas of Canada. Life has had many rewards for Dave with a family that has been respectful to their parents, their friends and their communities. Dave has also been fortunate to be associated with outstanding business partners over many years.

We all believe in a personal and business culture of respect, dedication and excellence.
